Overview

Seal off a large air port with this brass hex plug distributed by FleetPro Parts & Tires. It is sized for 1/2in NPT pipe connections - the bigger bosses on reservoirs, supply manifolds and valve bodies where a wet tank drain, a governor line or an auxiliary circuit used to live. A half-inch port left open or badly capped does not weep, it dumps: the compressor never catches up, the tanks will not build, and the truck is out of service until somebody finds it. Big Ports, Sealed Tight: The 1/2in Brass Plug Advantage

This is standard NPT pipe connection hardware for truck and trailer air-brake and air-accessory plumbing. The 1/2in NPT thread is tapered, so it tightens progressively as it is driven and seals on the thread flanks - the larger the port, the more that matters, because a big straight-thread substitute simply cannot hold that surface area of pressure.

The brass body resists the condensate, compressor oil carryover and road chemicals that circulate through a heavy-duty air system, and it will not corrode itself permanently into a cast or aluminium boss the way plated steel does. The hex head gives a wrench or socket a full grip, which is what you want on a fitting this size going into an awkward reservoir position. This plug also carries forward the older Automann 177.9039 reference for shops working from earlier parts lists.
